Amber Flag, Whole School

Amber Barrett raises the Amber Flag

We are delighted to announce that Drumman NS has been awarded the Amber Flag award.

This award is presented to schools who make a conscious effort to promote and improve the well-being and mental health of their school community.

It was a big day in Drumman as Irish international footballer Amber Barrett raised our very first Amber flag. Sport has always been known for it’s physical benefits but sport participation can also positively affect your mental health. Therefore it was only fitting to have a sporting star such as Amber raise our Amber flag.

We began the process at the beginning of the academic year by setting up an Amber Flag committee. The committee along with our amber flag co-ordinator Mrs Mc Gee worked hard throughout the year to organize events such as our fundraiser for Pieta House where all students wore the colour amber to raise awareness for mental health.

Well done to the whole school community for taking part and supporting our pupils with this project and thank you to Amber for joining us on this momentous occasion.
