The 5th and 6th classes had a great time learning about the environment as they took part in the educational programme Something Fishy. Tommy Mooney from Irish Fisheries along with Raymond and Annie came to Drumman this week to introduce the students to the Something Fishy project.
The Something Fishy programme is an interactive and interesting way for the children to learn about the environment around them, at a local scale. It explores different aspects of fish, their life, their life cycle, the water they inhabit.
The programme teaches children about life in the river and why it is so important to conserve and protect it. It helps them understand and appreciate the environment that surrounds them giving them an appreciation for rivers and their ecosystems.
