The boys and girls in the upper classes have just completed the Cycle Right Programme.
Cycle Right complements the SPHE and PE primary school curriculums providing enthusiastic and motivating lessons inclusive of all children.
Cycle Right is the national standard for cycle training. It provides practical cycle safety and skills training to promote competent and confident cyclists.
We had Eugene from An Craoibhin delivering the sessions. The children learned essential road safety and competency skills such as bike handling, correct use of helmets, negotiating roundabouts, traffic lights, traffic signage, travelling at appropriate speeds for the road surfaces and conditions, moving between major and minor roads, meeting pedestrians/animals/vehicles,etc.
On completion of the programme, the students received certificates. They all really enjoyed taking part and learning about cycling.
