A huge well done to our Sportshall athletics team who represented our school with pride and determination in the County Final. Reaching this stage was a massive achievement as it meant going head-to-head with some of the strongest small schools in the county. The standard was incredibly high and the competition remained tight from start to finish with many races decided by the smallest of margins.
Our team of Lucy, Emily, Rebecca, Chanella, Kacy, Cormac D, Cormac F, Conor, Ben and Eoin showed fantastic teamwork, resilience and effort throughout the day. Although Ruaidhrà couldn’t make it yesterday, he has been a huge part of the team and his work in training helped the group get to this level.
The students took on a wide range of field events including standing long jump, vertical jump, speed bounce and ball throw, each one demanding focus, skill and accuracy. The relay programme pushed them even further with races such as the 2 x 1 lap, 2 x 2 laps, the challenging 10 lap paarlauf, the 4 x 1 lap and the hurdle relay. In every event they gave their all, supporting one another and showing brilliant team spirit.
It was a brilliant day full of energy and excitement for the boys and girls. The way they competed and represented the school in such a strong field was something to be very proud of. All of their hard work in training and enthusiasm throughout the sportshall competitions truly paid off.
Well done to everyone involved on a fantastic achievement.
